05/6/08 New Watercooled Motherboards Following the success of motherboards like the Asus Blitz and Maximus ROG series that featured integrated watercooling using Asus' Fusion Block System, other manufacturers are keen to get a slice of the ultra-premium motherboard market. Custom PC have fed back a load of pics and info from Computex in Taiwan with a host of new boards featuring the last Socket 775 chipset prior to Nehalem's release later this year, the P45. Not one, but two new watercooled boards from MSI and Gigabyte were in clear view.
the P45 Diamond uses a narrow copper fin array dual chamber copper block with two inlets and outlets and a clear top which should look good with dye/uv coolant. However two of these are connected via a pre-installed tube shown above which transfers the coolant from one chamber to the other. Overclock3d.net have already sneaked a look at the board and opened up the block here. The Gigabyte EP45 Extreme appears to take a similar approach to Foxconn's recent BlackOps X48 board with a multi-top copper chamber block on the Northbridge to cater for air, water and LN2. Custom Pc have nabbed one of the first shots of the watercooled top. The board also features one giant heatsink! See the full article with other P45 boards here
